Tea

OPA
Ceylon Tea OPA , Largest Ceylon Leaf Tea. This unique leaf style is the largest grade of tea available from Sri Lanka. These teas are grown on the hillsides of the island and produce a drink of light color and flavor.

OP1
High-quality Ceylon tea with very little astringency and flowery taste. This OP1 is a a fine organic orange pekoe that is a great morning tea. The infusion is highly aromatic with a medium bodied infusion. A subtle sweetness lingers for a smooth, satisfying cup.

PEK
For those of you who have tried flavored black teas, you've probably tried Ceylon PE tea. Ceylon is the most popular tea to use in flavored black teas specially PE. The introduction of additional flavors works so well for the general characteristics of Ceylon tea because it is a very mellow and smooth tasting tea. It is not extraordinarily astringent, nor is it extremely bold or brisk.

OP
This is a first rate organic tea from the Dimbula district in Sri Lanka. Similar in flavor to our Ceylon Hills, this tea has a lively, classic high mountain Ceylon flavor. This tea is from the South of the island and is grade O.P. for Orange Pekoe (pronounced “pek-oh”). This grade is given to those teas whose leaves are longer, and more wiry than other Celyons. The O.P. teas also frequently contain tips.

BOP1
BOP1 is a grade of Sri Lankan and Indian tea; it stands for Orange Pekoe 1 and is made from whole leaves. It’s not a type of tea or a flavour, which is sometimes implied. Ceylon BOP1 tea is famed for its smooth, fragrant flavour and bright copper colour. The copper liquid produces a mellow tea, a rich flavour with slight hints of citrus. It’s invigorating; a good all-round black BOP1 tea that works with milk and sugar.

FBOPF SP
Located in the region of Ruhuna in Sri Lanka, a well growing area for FBOPF-SP our PBOPF EX SP records higher price in Colombo Tea auctions. The long slender uniform leaves and high tip content create a bright coppery infusion with a deep malty complexity and spicy sweetness. Our FBOPF-SP is a very tippy “spider leg” style produced under careful supervision to optimize the cup quality. The complex layering of flavors are complemented by the addition of milk.

BP1
Equivalent to size of high grown BOP, but rough. Only limited amounts of BP1 style tea are produced in Sri Lanka, and we are happy to be able to reintroduce this style after a prolonged absence.
